National Geographic Website

September 9, 2007

The National Geographic website has some fun features. My kids and I love to watch the animal videos. I appreciate that they are short - perfect for a toddlers attention span, and you don’t run the danger of getting sucked into too much screen time! For a warm fuzzy check out the Walrus Hug in the Animal Moms series (found under “Animals” and then “Featured Videos”).

One caveat… although far less frightening than your average Disney movie these don’t sugar coat some of nature’s harsh realities. Baby alligators get eaten and sometimes carnivores eat other animals, so if you have a very sensitive kiddo you might want to pre-screen videos before watching together.

They also have a “WildCam” that features live video streaming from Cameras set up in various natural settings.

Enjoy!
