Olde Izaak Walton Park

Olde Izaak Walton Park seems to be one of the most under-used gems in Loudoun. I know we shouldn’t feed ducks and geese people food, but one of my guilty pleasures is taking my kids there to feed the ducks and geese the way my parents took me to do the same at other parks when I was their age.
This park has green space for running and playing, a creek and pond to look at (or throw pebbles in), sticks to play with, a wide grass path to walk on along the pond that connects to a narrow barely maintained trail into the woods.
The park also hosts some of the county programs for toddlers.
As with many of my favorite spots in Loudoun the park does have its challenges: cigarette butts, dog poop, trash and recycling are often waiting to be picked up near the lower parking lot. Suburbia is not utopia…
Restrooms? I spoke with someone at the number above who said that when the building is open for classes and programs there are restrooms inside that visitors can pop in to use. The building is usually closed on weekends, but if you are visiting on a weekday it may be open.
Who was Izaac Walton? After a little googling I have come to understand that Izaak Walton was a fishman and biographer who lived in England more than 300 years ago.
