See the website link for more pictures of the dog park in Leesburg. I'm so glad there is a close dog park! I live in Purcellville, and the closest one I knew of was Baron Cameron, which is quite a hike. The dog park has one picnic table inside, and one picnic table outside of the dog area. My only wish is that it would have benches along the perimeter of the park. We've taken Smokey there twice now and he's loved it.

My recommendations are to take water and a water bowl and then some water and bug spray for yourself.

Is there a small dog area or is it just one big open area for all dogs?

We stopped by yesterday and confirmed rumors that the dog park is opening 5/9 - there are lots of signs and it looks 100% complete. The kids and I (and the dog of course) walked all the way around the park. There IS less visible fencing along the pretty slatted fence that should keep dogs in. The only opening that looked like a small dog could slip through was where the slatted fence ends and the chain link begins so folks with escape artists may want to check that out before letting their pups off leash. The rules are also posted: No kids under age 9 and ages 9-16 must be with someone older to act as the dog handler. They have added an additional parking area and the grass and even a porta potty.
I'll try to add additional pics soon!

This is so exciting!

It looks like the fence has wire between the wood to prevent smaller pups from slipping through.

I've been looking forward to this for the past few months now. But now that I see the pics.... I'm worried about the fence. Will little dogs be able to slip out, or is that the pre-area before a chain-link fenced in part? I have beagles... and they need boundaries. I suppose I'll have to take a drive up there, too.
