Green Posh Moms is a forum being developed by two sisters, one of whom lives right here in Loudoun County. The forum is a new resource and its success is dependent upon folks joining and participating in discussions and sharing ideas.

Care to be one of those folks?

Our Where in Loudoun County? contest stumped many folks. Guesses included: Potomac River, Algonkian Park, Goose Creek, White’s Ferry, and Ida Lee Park.

I’ll send an email with the results later tonight, but in the meantime only two folks guessed the correct answer, Olde Izaak Walton Park in Leesburg. The randomly chosen winner from among these two will receive their choice of 2 hours free childcare or an advertising spot on our website I hope you and your kids enjoy exploring Olde Izaak Walton and also checking out some of our other favorite places in Loudoun County.

UPDATE: A while back the Play’n Around Gym changed ownership and became known as Sense Abilities for Kids which did not last long. Sadly, as far as I know it was not replaced. Click here for listings on other indoor play options.

My children have been to open play at the Play’n Around Gym a few times, and each time they asked to go again in the next day or so.

The place is very open — it is easy to see your kids from wherever you are in the room. It is also brightly lit (a little too brightly if you ask me), and has fun (loud) music playing.

If you are looking for another indoor place to run your kids and can afford to pay an entry fee it is worth checking their schedule.

Nice soaps are a relatively cheap way to indulge on a daily basis even when the budget gets tight.

While I still just talking about starting Active Family Services, my husband surprised me with a gift of handmade soaps from Moondance. He had come across an article online about this successful mom-owned business, and it struck him as a success story that would inspire us to move forward with our own dream.

We have loved every soap we have ordered!

This website was recommended on a list I was on, and when I checked it out I was WOW-ed. Even my inlaws were WOW-ed and they are some of the most discriminating consumers I know (in a good way!).

A Toy Garden is filled with lots of thoughtfully chosen options. If you are looking to start avoiding plastic toys from China that seem to be meriting recall after recall these days this site is worth checking out. Or if you are like me and just prefer toys that challenge the kids in your life to use their imagination, and want to give gifts that are unlikely to be duplicates and are sure to spark conversation this might be a perfect resource. It also allows you to create a wishlist which might be a great way to help extended family choose a perfect gift.

I just ordered fundanas for my neices — they are bandanas with games on them that challenge kids go outside and hunt for seasonable objects, and use found objects like pebbles or acorns to mark your progress. It would have been a fun thing to have in my pocket back in my outdoor leadership days!
